Three drug peddlers arrested with heroin, ganja, poppy straw

JAMMU, Dec 8: Bathindi, Narwal and Kanachack Police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered heroin, ganja and poppy straw from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information a team from Police Post Bathindi laid a naka and intercepted a man, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered around 10 grams heroin from the possession of the man and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Javed Ahmed, son of Shar Ali Chowdhary, a resident of Sunjwan District Jammu.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Post Narwal laid a naka near Railway Bridge and apprehended a drug peddler along with 1.450 grams ganja.
The arrested person was identified as Mohammad Zaffar Alam, son of late Nabi Jaan, a resident of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal District Jammu.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
Police teams led by Incharge Police Post Bathindi PSI Mohammad Ilyas and Incharge Police Post Narwal SI Achal Rana made the arrests under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Deepak Pathania, SDPO East Sajad Sarwar and SP South Deepak Digra.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Kanachack led by SHO Inspector Kunal Singh Jamwal and assisted by ASI Sham Lal under the supervision of SDPO Domana Sunil Singh laid a naka and intercepted a scooter bearing registration number JK02AM-9386.
During checking, police team recovered 2.300 kilograms poppy straw from the scooter and arrested the rider, who was identified as Sohan Lal, son of Anant Ram of Gurha, Keran, Bantalab, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 172/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police station Kanachack and investigation started.
