JAMMU, Oct 10: The three-days training workshop organized by JD Institute of Fashion Technology for the underprivileged women of Kotharu village in Lower Kud, tehsil Chenani, district Udhampur concluded.
The objective of this workshop was to train and make these women competent in making hand bags so that they could earn a livelihood and these ladies hand bags become commercially viable.
A team from JD Institute of Fashion Technology had earlier visited Women Entrepreneurship Development Training Centre at Kotharu village and undertaken a project for uplifting the economic condition of 100 village women in collaboration with IL&FS, JKSRLM, JKWDC and JKEDI.
Taking this a step further this training workshop was organised wherein the women were taught to make bags right from the start to the end. The prototypes hence developed would be used as samples by these women for further mass production.
The marketing of the products from initial stage itself is the most important aspect for making this initiative successful. The marketing of products would be possible only if the products are well designed and attractive to the targeted buyers. In this regards for designing different products JD Institute would be helping at various stages of product development from designing to commercial viability.
Maansi Gupta, Centre Director, JD Institute Jammu said that it is our responsibility to give back to the society as much as we can and such philanthropic ventures provide a deep feeling of satisfaction and gratitude.
