JAMMU, June 13: Bakshi Nagar and Pacca Danga police under Operation Sanjeevani arrested three persons along with 31.5 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police spokesman, a team from Bakshi Nagar police station laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JKO2AD-3763 coming from Rajouri to Jammu.
During checking, police recovered 22.5 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver and his associate.
The accused have been identified as Kirpal Singh, son of Chatter Singh and Sukh Dev Singh, son of Prem Singh, both residents of Gundah Khawas, District Rajouri
A case under FIR Number 78/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Bakshi Nagar police station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police teams led by SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Ashwani Sharma and assisted by SI Krishan Lal Raina made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Pranav Mahajan and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
Meanwhile, a team from Pacca Danga police station laid a naka at Manda and intercepted a Tempo Traveller bearing registration number JK19-3339, coming from Kashmir to Jammu.
Police recovered 9 kilograms of poppy straw from the luggage of a passenger and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Sartaj Din, son of Vilayat Din, a resident of District Sangroor, Punjab.
