Srinagar, June 13: A man accused of sodomising a minor twelve years ago has been convicted by Chief Judicial Magistrate Ganderbal, an official said here.
The official said that on May 15, 2005, a complainant approached police station Ganderbal stating therein that his son (name withheld) was playing outside his house and Showket Ahmad Bhat took him away and committed unnatural sex with the minor.
“On this report, a case FIR number 37.2005 under section 377 was registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation was taken up,” he said.
“During the course of investigation the accused was found involved in the crime. The investigation was culminated and was produced before the court on October, 2005,” said the official.
After the trail the charges against the accused were proved and court has awarded him the imprisonment of three months and fine of Rs 8000 has also beeen imposed upon him. “The prosecution was conducted by CPO, Senior PO and PO of District Court Ganderbal,” the official added.
