JAMMU, Feb 18: Thieves struck once again in a daylight robbery, making off with 30-40 tolas of gold and some cash from a residential property in the Nanak Nagar area today.
This incident followed a similar one on February 1, when masked men armed with sharp weapons raided a jewellery store in Greater Kailash, taking 1500 grams of gold while holding the store owner hostage.
In today’s case, Manjeet Singh and his wife Mandeep Kour were out picking up their children from school when the thieves broke into their home by cutting through the door’s mesh.
They then forced open a locker, making off with 30-40 tolas of gold and some cash.
Family members revealed that the gold had recently been taken out for a wedding, and the couple had planned to deposit it back before the robbery occurred.
The police have taken note of the incident by registering an FIR under sections 305/331(3) of the BNS at the Gandhi Nagar Police Station.
An investigation is underway, but no arrests have been made so far.
