JAMMU, May 15: A police Head Constable and an SPO were assaulted by some thieves in Canal Road area, falling under the jurisdiction of Nowabad police station.
Police spokesman said that, police party including HC Mohd Sultan and SPO Sohan Lal from Nowabad police station were on regular patrolling and noticed some suspicious persons sitting in a Santro car bearing registration number JKO2AK-8561 at Canal Road.
“When the police personnel tried to stop them, they attacked the police party injuring HC Mohd Sultan and SPO Sohan Lal”, he added.
One of thief identified as Rocky Slathia, son of Yashpal Slathia of Dogra Mohalla, Nowabad has been arrested, while manhunt has been launched to arrest the other two accused, who fled from the spot along with the vehicle, he said.
A case under FIR No. 77/13 has been registered at police station Nowabad and investigation started.
