SP apprehends relief distribution scandal in earthquake hit areas

JAMMU, May 15: Samajwadi Party (SP) apprehended relief distribution scandal in earthquake hit areas including Ramban, Doda, Kistwar, Gandoh, Bhallessa and Bhaderwah.
Addressing a press conference, Sheikh Abdul Rehman, president, Samajwadi Party and Chief Patron, Chenab Valley Hill Development Council alleged that the Central and State Governments are not serious about the plights of people, who were facing lots of hardships due to the earthquake.
Rehman said that though some Ministers have visited the earthquake affected areas, but the intensity and sensitivity over the situation is not upto the desired level, which clearly shows the apathetic attitude of the Government.
He demanded framing of a committee of all parties to oversee the distribution of relief material besides preparing lists of detailed of real sufferers of the earthquake in district Doda and adjoining areas.
He said that the entire Chenab valley being rich in natural resources including Hydel potential, forest, sapphire mines, gypsum, tourism, yet the same were being ignored by the State and the Central Government.
Creation of constitutional institution in the shape of Chenab Valley Hill Development Council on the analogy of Ladakh Hill Development Council is the only solution to the old age miseries and hardships of the people of this hilly terrain, he added.
