JAMMU, May 5: Janipur police arrested a thief and recovered stolen auto from his possession.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by Pardeep Singh of Janipur with police station Janipur stating that some unidentified person has stolen his auto bearing registration number JKO2AN 5471.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 37/16 was registered at police station Janipur and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, several people were detained for questioning and out of them one of the person broke down and confessed to commit the theft.
The thief has been identified as Kuldeep Singh, son of Ranjit Singh, a resident of Patoli Morh, Sarwal.
On his disclosure, the stolen auto was also recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Janipur Inspector RS Bhau made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Sugandha Mahajan and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
