Theft case worked out; accused held, stolen items recovered

POONCH, Aug 26: With the arrest of an individual, Police claimed here today that they have solved a theft case within 24 hours of the registration of the crime.
A police spokesperson said that on August 25, 2023, one Shwait Misri son of Shashi Mohan Misri of Ward Number 11, Mohalla Panditan, Poonch lodged a written complaint at Police Station Poonch, stating therein that on the intervening nights of August 24-25, 2023, some unknown thieves decamped with valuables, including some antique items from the house of his relative namely Advocate Sanjay Raina of Mohalla Panditan, Ward Number 11, Poonch.
On this, he said, police registered a case FIR number 137/2023 under sections 457/380 of the IPC at Police Station Poonch and took up further investigation.
During the course of investigation, the spokesperson further said that several suspects were rounded up for questioning.
“CDRs and CCTV footages were also analyzed to finally zero-in a suspect identified as Zaulifqar Ahmed alias Julie of Palera, Tehsil Mandi at present Mohalla Qazi Mohra, Poonch, who during sustained questioning confessed to his involvement in the crime,” he said.
On the disclosure of the accused, all the stolen items were recovered by the police, added the police spokesperson.
Pertinently, the arrest and recovery was made by a team headed by DySP Headquarters Poonch, Afrat Hussain, in assistance with SHO Poonch, Inspector Deepak Pathania. The overall investigation was supervised by SSP Poonch, Vinay Kumar.
