JAMMU, Apr 22: Unison Repertory is going to organize a 5 day Theatre Festival which is scheduled to be held from April 23 to 28 at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
Various theatre groups of Jammu will stage their plays in the Unison Theatre Festival. This 5 day long theatre festival will showcase myriad palette of talents and styles of theatre to make it an experience, nobody would want to miss. The timing of all the plays will be at 6:00 pm.
The Amateur Theatre Group will stage the first play, based on Balwant Gargi’s “ABHISARIKA” directed by Mushtaq Kak on Sunday, April 23. On Monday, April 24, Vomedh Rangmanch’s hindi play based on Roshan Bhat’s “EK AUR BIRBAL” directed by Rohit Bhat will be staged. Ismail Choonara’s “BROKEN CHAIR” translated in Hindi by Uma Jhunjhunwala will be presented by Rangyatri under the direction of Mushtaq Kak on Tuesday, April 25. Jackson Cultural Society Institute will stage Hindi play of Rajneesh Gupta’s “CHOTTAY LOG” directed by Sapna Soni on Wednesday, April 26.
On the concluding day of the theatre festival, Thursday, April 28, Unison Repertory in collaboration with Amateur Theatre Group will present Ariel Dorfmann’s “WIDOWS” translated in Hindi by Rajeshwer Singh Raju, directed by Ifra Kak. All the plays are fresh productions and in this theatre festival, two women directors will come with new production along with new treatments. This theatre festival is being organized with an aim to promote theatre as a key cultural element in the State as well as to bring together and spark a dialogue among theatre lovers from various parts of the State and country.
