JAMMU, July 20: Tension flared up in Rajouri with members of majority community giving a bandh call tomorrow in protest against what they alleged torching of a flag of a particular community by a section of youth in the town yesterday.
The people also took out a procession from Talab Masjid to Gujjar Chowk in protest against the act and demanded arrest of the youth. They shouted slogans against the Government and administration for their failure to arrest the youth and gave a bandh call tomorrow asking the members of the majority community to keep their business establishments closed.
Meanwhile, the VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders have expressed serious concern over the waiving of ISIS and Pak flags in various parts of the State and demanded stern action against such people. In a joint press conference here, today VHP patron, Dr Rama Kant Dubey, its president, Leela Karan Sharma, general secretary Dr Sham Lal Gupta and Bajrang Dal leader Rakesh Kumar Sharma said the authorities should take stern action against the anti national elements who are trying to disturb peace and create a communal tension in the State by waiving off ISIS and Pakistani flags.
The VHP and BD leaders made it clear that they will not allow waiving of ISIS and Pakistani flags on Indian soil and take direct action against such elements if Government fails to act.
Dr Dubey also made it clear that the flags set ablaze by youth did not belong to any particular community but were of ISIS.
