Tehsildar seals Govt ration store

RAJOURI, Mar 4: Tehsildar  Thannamani sealed the ration store of  Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs  Department  at  Thannamandi town in  district Rajouri this afternoon.
Official sources told the Excelsior that action was taken on the directions of  the Minister for FCS&CA, Ch Zulfkar Ali, who further asked the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhat to seal the Govt ration store at Thannamandi and hold an inquiry into the matter.
Tehsildar, Thannamandi,  Shahid Iqbal,  after receiving directions from  DC Rajouri,  while using his  Magisterial powers,   promptly moved to the  ration store  along with some police force and sealed food grain store. He also picked up the store record.
Deputy Commissioner, when contacted  told the Excelsior that a deputation of ration dealers from Thannamandi area  met the visiting Minister, Zulfkar Ali  at  Rajouri in the morning. The dealers  alleged that they were being provided less ration by store staff despite the full quota approved by the senior officers. They also alleged that they had brought the matter to the notice of notice of senior officers at  Rajouri  but there was improvement in the system. They alleged massive pilferage of ration.
The Minister then directed to seal the store and hold inquiry. Bhat  said that inquiry committee will be framed tomorrow or the day after and  as it  submits  its report the allegations will be proved. If storekeeper and his staff has issued less  ration to dealers, then it will be there in the store. The store record will also be scrutinized, the DC added.
