JAMMU, Nov 28:  Declaring war against narco terrorism, Team Jammu today took out a massive bike rally in the city, which passed through different areas of the winter capital before its culmination near Maharaja Hari Singh Park.
IGP Jammu, Danish Rana flagged off the rally, which was attended by a large number of people, cutting across party ideology, caste, creed, colour and religion,  to render their support to make Jammu free from drugs.
Team Jammu is an organization comprising of writers, advocates, doctors, students and unemployed educated youth with no political affiliations but an urge to fight for the genuine causes of society.
Encouraged over the enthusiasm among youth against drug abuse, a  woman, whose son has become a  drug addict, came forward and addressed  the gathering for narrating  tale of her son, who is now under treatment in a de-addiction centre outside the State. She  exhorted youth to take the war  against drug abuse to its logical conclusion to save the younger generation.
Hundreds of youth,  riding on bikes,  thronged  Toph Sherkhania Bridge on Akhnoor Road, which was venue of flagging off the rally. The rally was addressed by Team Jammu, chairman, Zorawar Singh Jamwal.
“It is  a beginning and an eye-opener for State administration and police that they have to be strict against the drug menace in Jammu Region, otherwise the time has come when people of Jammu voluntarily under the umbrella of Team Jammu will come in the open against those who are selling the poisonous drugs,” said Zorawar Singh Jamwal, who is also secretary general of  Press Club Jammu.
The rally on motorbikes passing through Shakti Nagar, Rajpura, Rehari, Ambphalla Chowk, CPO Chowk, Kachi Chawni, Parade, Moti Bazar, Pacca Danga, Chowk Chabutra, Jain Bazar, Peer Mitha, Rajender Bazar, Shahidi Chowk, Residency Road, Vivekananda Chowk, Lower Gummat, Vinayak Bazar, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, District Police Lines, Major Ajay Singh Jasrotia Marg, Gole Market, Apsara Road, Rampura, Shastri Nagar, Sanjay Nagar Chowk and Extension Road Gandhi Nagar, Balmiki Chowk, Bahu Plaza Chowk, Panama Chowk, Dogra Chowk near Police Headquarters, Bahu Fort Chowk and  Gujjar Nagar area.
The rally was welcomed by residential committees, bazaar associations and school students, who extended their support to Team Jammu for the cause.
Earlier, a team of youth,  headed by Tarun Sharma,  also performed a short play on the occasion, which showed how drugs are inserting into the lives of youth of Jammu.
