SRINAGAR, Nov 28: Dozens of shopkeepers staged a protest against the rent hike decision by Jammu Kashmir Wakf Board and termed it unacceptable.
The shopkeepers assembled in press enclave here under the banner of Wakf Board Tenants Association. They termed the decision as “unilateral and unacceptable” and urged the concerned authorities to revoke the decision.
Shouting slogans and holding banners, the shopkeepers said that the “arbitrariness in rent is gross injustice” with the trade community. “We are already suffering since last year’s floods and despite of this the Wakf authorities hiked our rents. We appeal Chief Minister to intervene in the matter,” they said before dispersing peacefully.
