Teachers protest

KATHUA, May 16: Highlighting their demands, members of J&K United School Teachers Association held a protest demonstration at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, here today.
Led by Shashi Paul Singh, the protesting teachers raised slogans in support of their demands, which included; Release of pending salary of teachers working under SSA scheme; Transfer of Masters and Teachers who have completed their tenure in far flung areas and out of district; Transfer policy for regularized ReT teachers and inclusion of their 5-year service period for promotion benefit; Removal of pay anomalies, etc.
The demonstration was addressed by Com Hari Singh and others, who criticized the Government for not conceding their demands and threatened to launch a vigorous struggle.
Those who addressed, included Sewa Ram, Julfkar Ali Malik, Kishori Lal, Kewal Krishan, Rattan Chand, Sukhdev Singh, Sham Lal, H R Shastri, Parveen Singh and Natter Chand.
