Teachers protest against non-release of salary

KATHUA, July 21: A protest demonstration was held today by teachers against the Education Department as well as State Government for not releasing their salary for last several months.
A large number of teachers under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum, Kathua and the leadership of   provincial secretary, Parveen Singh assembled at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park and staged a protest against the Education Department for not releasing the salary grants under RMSA and SSA.
Addressing the teachers, Parveen Singh said teachers working under RMSA are without salary for last four months while those working under SSA did not get salary for last eight months, which has put the teachers and their families in a starvation position.
Amar Nath Thakur said if the salary grants under SSA and RMSA are not released before Eid and Raksha Bandan   festivals, the teachers will have no alternative other than going on strike to get their salary.
Later the protesting teachers submitted a memorandum of demands to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah through Deputy Commissioner, Kathua.
