Jammu, Aug 21: Demanding immediate release of pending salary of teachers working under New Pension Scheme, members of Teachers Guild Jammu & Kashmir held an urgent meeting at its headquarter.
The meeting was chaired by Nasir Ahmed Qurashi, State President of Teachers Guild.
In his presidential address, Nasir Ahmed Qurashi said that it is unfortunate that the pending salaries of teachers under New Pension Scheme have not been released so far. He said that as per the complaints available with Teachers Guild Jammu and Kashmir two to twelve months salaries of teachers under NPS have not been paid yet.
As a result, the aggrieved teachers and their families are suffering badly and facing extreme and endless hardship in their personal, economical and social lives.
Nasir Ahmed Qurashi expressed anguish over this delay and alleged that pick and choose policy has been adopted by the dealing assistants of district offices in releasing funds for salaries under different schemes. He demanded an impartial inquiry into the matter and urged the Education Minister Naeem Akhtar to personally intervene and enquire as to why equality and transparency has not been maintained in release of funds for salaries.
Vijay Kumar Sharma, State General Secretary of the Teachers Guild, said that it is mockery on part of the concerned authorities of Finance Department that there is no proper check system for monitoring of the release of funds at district level and even the budget control registers are not in place. He demanded immediate release of state/central share for salary of teachers under New Pension Scheme. He said that otherwise the teachers will be forced to adopt the path of agitation to seek the justice.
