Teachers Forum stages protest, raises demands

JAMMU, July 5: Teachers under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) here today staged a protest demonstration under the leadership of Forum Chairman, Ganesh Khajuria and highlighted their demands.
The protesting teachers demanded release of pending salaries and arrears in favour of Masters working as Head Teachers in the upgraded Middle Schools under SSA, now Smagara Scheme, in accordance to the 7th Pay Commission.
They also demanded regularization of ReTs who have completed their 5 years of satisfactory services and are still waiting for regularization.
Conversion of RReTs into General Line Teachers Grade-II and to incorporate their enhanced qualifications which they acquired during their service tenure was also demanded.
Other demands included DPC of all cadres from Class IV employees to lecturers and the other higher cadres in order to remove the stagnation.
Removal of pay anomalies of Masters Grade was among more demands.
Addressing the protesters Ganesh Khajuria urged the Governor, Satya Pal Malik to intervene for the redressal of the issues of teaching community.
Prominent among those who participated in the protest included Yog Raj Slathia, Surat Singh Toofani, Rajinder Gupta, Gopal Singh and others.
