Teachers Forum highlights various issues, demands

JAMMU, Mar 17: An emergency meeting of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum was held under the chairmanship of Ganesh Khajuria, here today, to discuss the matter relating to the issue of re-verification of RETs/RRETs, Teacher Grade II and Grade III, removal of pay anomalies of Masters, pending salaries and arrears on account of 6th and 7th Pay Commission of the Masters working against the post of Head Teachers.
While discussing the issue of RRETs and RETs, for whom the educational authorities have issued a circular and constituted a committee to re-verify the documents/antecedents/appointment orders of all those RRETs who have subsequently converted to Teacher Grade II and Grade III. Khajuria said that it is violation of that order which had already been issued during the regularisation of RETs into RRETs in which it was clearly mentioned that these RETs are converted into RRET’S at par with the General line Teachers . Ganesh Khajuria urged the Education authorities as well as Directors School Education, Jammu and Kashmir to verify/recertify the documents of only those RETs who are not regularised till date or not converted into Teacher Grade II and III and whose character and antecedents are doubtful as per the CID reports.
While highlighting the salary issue and pending arrears on account of 6th and 7th Pay Commission, Khajuria said that the salary of Head Teachers be streamlined permanently as this is hampering their household budget , necessary medications of their ailing families and school fees of their children for the last so many years.
It was also discussed that Lecturers, Masters, Teachers working in the hard zones/ far flung areas and posted out of their district and also who have completed their tenure of stay be immediately transferred as per transfer policy. The meeting also demanded that contingent paid workers be regularised at an earliest.
Ganesh Khajuria also urged the Govt to ease the teaching community from duties as a precautionary measure against COVID-19 till resumption of class work.
