Teachers Forum defers strike call on Govt assurance over release of salary

JAMMU, Nov 19: Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum has announced to defer its call for strike on November 22 and 23 besides Civil Secretariat gherao following an assurance by the Commissioner Secretary Education that pending salary of SSA and RMSA teachers would be released within a week’s time.
Commissioner Secretary Education Nirmal Sharma informed that the matter was taken up with the HRD Ministry, which has assured to release the pending salary within a week’s time.
Earlier, a delegation of the Forum, comprising A Q Wani, Ganesh Khajuria, Mohd Afzal Bhat and others called on Principal Secretary Finance, Commissioner Secretary Education and Director SSA demanding release of the salaries of SSA and RMSA teachers within ten days. They discussed with these officers the issue of non-payment of salary and the irregularities related to it.
The Forum warned that in case of any negligence in solving the issue, the Education Department would be responsible for the same.
The deputation also comprised of Rajinder Gupta, Gopal Singh, Satish Datta, Surat Singh Toofani, Raj Singh, Darshan Sharma, M Afzal Bhat, Showket Ali Beigh, M Shafi Rather, Joginder Singh, Yograj Singh and Rajesh Slathia.
