Teachers defer strike till Nov 30

SRINAGAR, Nov 19:  The Government teachers who had called for two-day strike over the non-payment of their salary have deferred it till November 30 after meeting the Government representatives.
Teachers Forum president Abdul Qayoom Wani led delegation today met with the Principal Secretary Finance, Commissioner Secretary Education and Director SSA, who assured them to release salary of SSA/RMSA teachers in next 10 days.
A spokesman of the Forum said that Wani along with Ganesh Khajuria, Mohammad Afzal Bhat and others discussed the issue of nonpayment of salaries and irregularities related to it with the highest officers of Education Department especially with Principal Secretary, Finance, Secretary to Government School Education, Nirmal Sharma, Director SSA, Shamim Ahmad Laharwal, Director Finance, School Education Department, Koul Sahib at Civil Secretariat, Jammu.
The teachers thanked the officials and hoped their issue will be addressed as soon as possible.
Wani cautioned that if the Government fails to fulfill its promise they will go for an agitation.
