Teachers Forum announces protests on Nov 21

JAMMU, Nov 16: A one day session of central executive of J&K Teachers Forum was convened today under the chairmanship of JCC president and chairman of the Teachers Forum, Ab Qayoom Wani who announced protest programme on November 21.
The session was attended by all the central, provincial teachers & district and zonal presidents. The session was called to thoroughly deliberated upon the issues of teachers in general and of ReT’s in particular.
The Teachers Forum, in this session, announced the protest programme against the step motherly attitude of the HRD Ministry with J&K. On November 21, the Teachers Forum shall take out a march from Directorate Office Srinagar to Divisional Commissioner Office Srinagar while in Jammu and Leh, teachers shall assemble near Press Club and Dy Commissioner Office, respectively.
While addressing the session,  Ab  Qayoom Wani  expressed his deep concern on the silence of HRD Ministry and Education Department over the plights of  teachers and  Head teachers working under SSA & RMSA as they  are without salaries for the last 6 months. He also highlighted the plights of ReTs, whose services are not being confirmed
despite completion of five years of services.  “Teachers have taken loans for mid day meals but Government is not paying them  till date,” he added and alleged that wrong policies and false promises of State Govt  have adversely affected the honour of teachers & their life has become miserable  .
Ab  Qayoom Wani strongly criticized the HRD  Ministry for not releasing the funds for centrally sponsored schemes. “ The issuance of unnecessary and unwarranted circulars and orders have created confusion among teachers,” he added and also highlighted some other demands  such as removal of pay  anomaly in Masters grade,  cash is lieu to teachers and service benefits on the analogy of F.A.T Teachers  to Migrant substitute teachers,   confirmation of incharge officers, etc.
