Teacher’s Day celebrated with pomp and show

JAMMU, Sept 6: The birth anniversary of former President of India, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who was a great and visionary scholar, was celebrated as Teachers’ Day with pomp and show in various educational institutions across Jammu region.
Kawa College of Education, Patoli Gurha Brahmana (Muthi) celebrated the occasion with great fervor and gaiety. The students performed various cultural activities comprising of dances, poems, skits and songs. The students presented greeting cards and gifts to their teachers as a token of love. The programme came to an end with the encouraging words and blessings to the students by the Chairperson of the School, MS Katoch.
Birthday of great and visionary scholar Dr S Radhakrishanan was celebrated as Teacher’s Day in the premises of Bhargava College of Education, Samba with great fervour and enthusiasm. All the rooms of the college were decorated and students taught their peers and imitated their respective teachers. Students presented a colorful play depicting the efficiency of the teacher in moulding the behavior of the learners in an ideal direction.
The Day was celebrated with great fervor at Sai Shyam College and Sai Shyam Higher Secondary School, Ghou- Manhasan. The program started with lighting of lamp by chief guest, CL Tickoo in the presence of Principal of the College, Dr Usha Tickoo and Principal of the School, JN Bhat. The chief guest threw light on the qualities of the teacher after which students presented some poems in praise of their teachers.
To mark the occasion, a colouful function was organized at Delhi Public School, Jammu, where an array of scintillating performances was presented by school students to express their love and gratitude to their teachers. The boys and girls of class XI and XII dressed in formals assumed the role of teachers and conducted classes. In the end, Principal Ruchi Chabra felicitated the meritorious students and teachers for their outstanding contribution towards education.
DPS Nagbani celebrated Teacher’s Day with great fun and enthusiasm. A special assembly was conducted by the students of Chenab House to mark the occasion. The assembly began with a talk highlighting the contribution of teachers in the student’s life. It was followed by a beautiful poem pointing the importance of a teacher. A skit was also staged by the students which was the main attraction of the whole assembly.
An impressive function was also organized at DPS Leh in connection with Teacher’s Day. A special assembly was organized wherein skits, dances, debates, dramas, etc were presented by the students. Thereafter, the senior teachers imitated their teachers for the day and took charge of classes. The teachers were also presented gifts by their students as well as management.
JK Public Higher Secondary School, Omara Morh (Udhampur) celebrated the occasion with pomp and show in its premises. The program began with welcome address by a student of class IX which was followed by a glittering bonanza of dances and songs presented by the students. The celebrations ended with a motivational speech by Principal, Kawal Bawa.
Rotary Club, Jammu organized a function to mark Teacher’s Day. During the function, Nation Builder Awards under the Rotary International Project “Literacy” were conferred on the renowned teachers of Jammu in various fields. Those awarded were Dr Subhash Gupta, Principal (retd), GMC Jammu, Prof Santosh Gupta, Prof Parmeshwari Sharma (HoD Hindi, Jammu University), Sharmik Mahajan (Gym Trainer at Tone House Gym, Jammu) and Gunjan Kohli (PGT English, KV Jammu). Project Director, Dr Abhishek Sachdeva briefed the citation of all the awardees.
To mark the occasion, Inner Wheel Club (IWC), Jammu Tawi organized a function in which it honoured Manisha Kohli, Associate Professor, Psychology Department in Government PG College, Gandhi Nagar for her dedicated services in the field of education. Earlier, president of the Club, in his welcome speech, highlighted the importance of the Day.
Army celebrated the occasion with teachers and students of border area villages of Nowshera tehsil. A total of 96 school children and 11 teachers participated in the celebrations, The participating students paid tribute to the teachers for their selfless dedication and precious contributions towards the society.
Teacher’s day was celebrated at Government Middle School, Kalsiyan as a mark of respect to contribution of teachers. The event kick started by paying a floral tribute to Dr S Radhakrishnan and it was followed a debate competition on the topic “Use of Social Media in Our Life”. A total of 14 teachers and 117 students participated in the event.
In connection with Teacher’s Day, Teachers Students Wave (TSW) met top officials of Education Department of district Rajouri and expressed presented their brief road map for the emancipation of student and teaching fraternity in positive collaboration with Department officials. Officers of the Department extended their full cooperation on the issues raised by TSW.
On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, Adbi Kunj organized a literary meet, which was presided over by noted Punjabi singer Rajpal Singh Mastana while another noted poet Mohan Singh Nurala was the guest of honour. In his welcome address, Sham Talib president of the organization described teachers as torch bearers of society. In the composite poetic session, a detailed discussion was also held on a Dogri Ghazal of KR Salgotra.
