Teachers agents of change, progression in society: Bharti

JAMMU, Dec 28: Calling upon the teachers to take the lead in bringing about a positive change in the society, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau, Government of India and Chairperson of J&K Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), Bharti Vaid, today termed the teachers as instruments of change and progression in a society.
Bharti Vaid was speaking as a resource person to a group of university and college teachers who were attending the UGC – General Orientation Course being organized by Human Resource Development Centre as well as Department of Psychology at University of Jammu.
She underlined the need for the educators to inspire through personal integrity, academic excellence and commitment towards their job and set examples for others and their students to emulate. Bharti Vaid also quoted many examples from history, mythology, and spiritualism to emphasize the importance of teachers and their immense contribution towards the Society.
“Teaches are the harbingers of change as they mould impressionable minds. They are the most respected citizens and nation builders “, she added.
Vaid also highlighted various schemes being undertaken by the Police Wives Welfare Association for the welfare of the policemen and the families of the martyrs. Later, the resource person answered the queries of the participating teachers, during the question answer session.
Earlier Bharti was formally welcomed by the Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar of the University in presence of Prof JP Singh Joorel Director of HRDC, Prof Arti Bakshi, Head, Department of Psychology and Course Coordinator while Ranjeet Kalra, teaching faculty at the HRDC introduced the speaker before her address.
It is noteworthy that around 40 university and college teachers from both within and outside the State are taking part in the month long University Grants Commission (New Delhi) sponsored programme.
