KISHTWAR, Dec 28: Police arrested a teacher, who was accused of raping a minor girl along with his co-accused.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary said that on December 4, a minor girl of Leondi Padder village and a class 10 student was lured by her teacher Surinder Kumar Sharma, son of Bal Krishan Sharma of village Leondi Padder, district Kishtwar with a criminal intention who later took her to Gulabgarh and thereafter to Bhaderwah.
He said that the teacher committed rape on his minor student repeatedly in Kishtwar town, adding, the teacher had hired a hotel room near Kishtwar bus stand and later shifted her to a guest house and repeatedly raped the minor girl.

He added that in the guest house, the accused also called one of his friends Raj Dev Thakur, son of Kunj Lal of village Shityan Gowari, Padder tehsil, district Kishtwar.
Thereafter, both the accused took turns to rape the student and then shifted her to Padiyarna area, where she was abandoned near the house of her maternal aunt.
SSP Abrar Chowdhary said that the police constituted several special teams to arrest the accused.
Police parties led by DySP Probationer Mohammad Rafi Rather and SDPO Atholi Rajinder Singh arrested the main accused Surinder Kumar Sharma, SSP said, adding that the accused is teacher at Government Primary School Leondi, Padder.
The police also took the cognizance of the threats served to the victim and her family and they have been guarded through Anti-Militancy Pickets, SSP said, adding that police is also investigating the role of Ex-Sarpanch and so-called respectables of Panchayat in sheltering the criminal and hushing up the crime of heinous nature. The police has got specific clues for the arrest of the second accused in the case Raj Dev”, SSP informed.
A case under FIR Number 30/17 under Section 363, 376, 506 and 109 RPC stands registered at Police Station Atholi.
