JAMMU, Dec 28: Former Ranji Trophy Captain and Duleep Trophy Player, ace cricketer Ashwani Gupta has been appointed Chairman of Selection Committee in order to make transparency and accountability in selection process of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.
J&K Ranji Trophy skipper, Parvez Rasool has also been named in the selection committee for good health of the selection process.
The induction of Mr Ashwani and Mr Rasool is in addition to already existing selectors namely Vivek Sharma, Arshid Bhat, Zahoor Bhat and Pradeep Bali.
It is pertinent to mention here that Ashwani has the distinction of hitting 11 centuries with two double hundreds in the Ranji Trophy matches, besides taking a good haul of wickets as an off-spinner during his cricketing career.
Moreover, keeping in view the directions given by the Division Bench of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Executive Officer along with the Committee of Administrators have appointed four members to assist the Chief Executive Officer in smooth running of JKCA affairs.
The Administrators and the CEO took the decision of appointing these members after meeting all the stakeholders at Srinagar and Jammu from December 25, 2017 to December 28, 2017 and keeping in mind the inputs and information gathered from different sources. All these appointed members qualify the recommendations of Lodha Committee. The members include Shiben Lal Trakroo, Shyam Swaroop Kalsotra, Mohd Ashraf Bhat and Jung Bahadur.
Meanwhile, to select women team for representing the State in the Senior Women T20 Cricket Championship being held at Chennai from January 13 to January 17, 2018, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) will hold selection trials from January 1 to January 10, 2018 at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
According to a handout issued here by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JKCA, the players desirous to take part in the trials will have to report the venue on the said date. The boarding and lodging facilities will be provided by JKCA during the trials.
