NAGROTA, Dec 28: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana called for inculcating healthy competitive spirit among the students, as per the requirements of the present day competitive world.
“However, the competitive spirit giving way to ill will or jealousy will be counterproductive and the teaching community should guard against it”, Mr Rana said at Annual Day function of HP Public School at Kangar in Bantalab.
Mr Rana said the healthy competition enables students to grow in a productive atmosphere and places them in good stead.
He said while teachers can be facilitators, the initiative has to come from the students. As such, greater role is cast upon parents to mould their children, as home is supposed to be the first school.
The Provincial President acknowledged the fact that grooming young minds is a crucial challenge and hoped that given the modern educational techniques, the teaching community can meet these with fortitude.
Mr Rana, who was chief guest at the Annual Day function, underscored the need for imbibing good moral values and virtues among children from the very beginning so that they grew up as disciplined and citizens and contributes towards betterment of society.
He congratulated the students for taking lead in various activities and hoped this will give them much needed confidence and vigour. He also congratulated the performers of the cultural and sports activities for their endeavours.
Speaking on the occasion, senior National Conference leader and former Minister Abdul Gani Malik lauded the management for its innovative approach towards learning and other extra-curricular activities.
On the occasion, the school annual report was presented by the management, highlighting the academic odyssey of the institution with special mention of extra-curricular activities.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Jehangir Mir, Chairperson, Mobina Malik, Managing Director and Principal Sanjana Bagotra, besides Rajdev Singh and Sudershan Singh, former Sarpanchs
Later, the MLA interacted with the locals of Handswal and Keri in Dhanu Panchayat.
