This has reference to the news item, ‘Govt says Tawi will be completed in 4 months’ DE 11.
It is a matter of satisfaction that the Government has not shelved the much talked about and prestigious project- Tawi Artificial Lake. It was reported that the project had been abandoned after spending a huge amount on it. This news or rumour had created great resentment among Jammuites, and was termed as another act of discrimination with Jammu.
Now, when the Government has cleared the air, it has to some extent soothed the frayed nerves of people. Now, the Government should complete the work without any further delay. The sentiments of Jammuites are attached with this project, as it is supposed to give a boost to tourism industry, and economic activities of the region. It will also enhance the beauty of the city, known for its temples and historical places.
It may be not out of place to mention here that presently, the Tawi is facing acute pollution and encroachment.
The Government must initiate a ‘Keep Tawi Clean’ project to save it from shrinking and pollution. It will be welcomed by the people of this small, but beautiful city.
