Refer news item, ‘Govt non-serious towards completion of infrastructure for off-site campuses of JU’ DE Oct 11.
On the one hand Government assures people that all steps will be taken to improve the Higher Education Sector in the State, on the other hand the infrastructure needed in colleges and universities is not upto the mark.
At a time when higher education sector in India is facing multiple problems on account of lack of trained and highly qualified staff, competition from foreign universities, inadequate research facilities etc, the problem in the State colleges has compounded due to non seriousness of the authorities. Most of the colleges are housed in ramshackled buildings and Hr Sec Schools. There is acute shortage of trained staff to impart education to students. Unless Government allocates sufficients funds and makes recruitments on fast track basis, the off-site campuses will continue to suffer.
