Tatkal tickets racket busted

JAMMU, July 6: Katra police today arrested five racketeers for selling ‘tatkal’ tickets of Railways in black-marketing to pilgrims after taking them from Katra counter of Northern Railways.
SSP Reasi Raghubir Singh said the racketeers had developed nexus with some of the Railway employees posted at Katra counter. They used to take ‘tatkal’ tickets in bulk and sell them to the pilgrims at exorbitant rates, he added.
The racketeers have been identified as Shunna Sharma and Sanjay Sharma of Akhnoor, Sohan Lal of Tikri, Vicky Ram of Qarra, Udhampur and Manu Kumar of Katra.
Mr Singh said a case has been registered against the accused at Katra police station for further investigations.
Police parties, which made the arrests, were headed by SDPO Katra Rajinder Katoch and SHO Katra Ashok Sharma under the supervision of SP Katra Mohan Lal.
