JAMMU, Mar 2: M.Y. Tarigami, MLA Kulgam, met Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan, here today.
Tarigami discussed important matters with the Governor relating to the restoration of peace and normalcy in the State, need for transparency in the functioning of the administrative apparatus and the accountability of public institutions, particularly the Banks.
Appreciating Tarigami’s contribution towards promoting people’s welfare Governor urged him to sustain his endeavours to secure enhanced efficiency in the functioning of the administrative apparatus.
Former Minister and senior leader National Conference Ajay K. Sadhotra also met Governor and brought to his notice the problems being faced by the International Border (IB), Line of Control (LoC) dwellers and sought his intervention to instill confidence among them and put check on fast rising alienation.
As BJP Government at the Centre and BJP-PDP Government at the State has utterly failed to fulfill the promises made with IB-LoC dwellers they are feeling a sense of deprivation and deceit, Sadhotra told the Governor.
A memorandum was also given to the Governor.
A 4 member delegation of Janta Dal United led by its State Party President G.M. Shaheen also met Governor.
The delegation apprised Governor about its concerns relating to the hardships being faced by people on all fronts due to militancy and cross border firing along the LoC and IB. They demanded construction of adequate number of bunkers for protecting the population living in the villages along the IB and LoC, providing appropriate arrangements for their evacuation in the case of need. They also demanded transparency in the existing selection procedures and speedy disposal of public grievances by the Government offices.
Governor appreciated the concerns of the delegation and urged them to continue their initiatives to promote people’s welfare.
