RAJOURI, July 12: The police today nabbed a middle aged ‘Tantrik’’ from Sunderbani area for committing rape on a young girl hailing from Akhnoor area.
A police spokesman said that SHO, Sunderbani on the directions of SSP Rajouri conducted raid and arrested the accused, so called ‘Tantrik’, living at Nag Devta Temple, Thandapani, in Sunderbani today. He has been identified as Subhash Chander, son of Mohan Lal, resident of village Nagara in Sunderbani block of district Rajouri. A case FIR No. 83/ 2017, under sections 376/ 506/ 509 RPC was registered against him.

Police said that 21-year-old girl from Akhnoor area had come with her mother for treatment at Sunderbani. First time, she had come with her brother and mother. In fact, her mother was sick for long and some locals told about the Tantrik at Thandapani in Sunderbani area. ‘Tantrik’ Subhash started treatment of mother and also told that their girl was also under the influence of some evil spirit. On July 8, on the pretext of treatment she took the girl to a nearby dark room and offered some water. The girl turned unconscious and he committed rape on her. He also told girl that he will harm her badly if she told this matter to her mother or anybody.
The next day, girl told the whole incident to mother. The family then moved to SSP Rajouri, who directed the SHO Sunderbani to arrest the accused. The girl after medical examination was handed over to the family. The `Tantrik’ was put behind the bars.
