Talks, terrorism, ceasefire violations cannot go together: BJP

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Aug 30: Endorsing the stand taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on cancellation of Foreign Secretary Level talks with Pakistan, BJP Election Campaign Committee Chairman and National Executive Member Dr Nirmal Singh said that continuing talks amid intrusions, cease-fire violations and firing on civilians on the borders render the entire exercise non-serious and cannot yield any fruits or lead to peace.
Dr Nirmal Singh while addressing media persons along with State General Secretaries Bali Bhagat and Kavinder Gupta said that Pakistan has violated Shimla Agreement and Lahore Declaration as its soil is still being used as training and launching pads for terrorist activities against India and it is also indulging in unprovoked firing at the borders.
Dr Singh also took the State Chief Minister and leaders of NC, Congress and PDP to task for trying to dilute  India’s sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir and put a question mark on J&K State being part of India by taking the line of Pakistan, Hurriyat Conference and other separatist organizations. He added that these parties have used the constitutional forum of Jammu and Kashmir, the State Legislative Council, against sovereignty of India.
He expressed surprise over the total silence on part of the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the plight of thousands of uprooted displaced families from border areas of Jammu Province. He said that the bias and unconcern of CM for Jammu province and its people is clear from the fact that Omar neither has time to visit the affected families nor he convened any emergency meeting to access the situation and plan the relief operations.
Dr Nirmal Singh said that raking up the issue of continuing talks with Pakistan is also an attempt by the frustrated NC, Congress and PDP leaders to mislead the people of Kashmir for vote bank politics as people of all the three regions of the State are realizing the futility of their politics and are coming more and more closer to BJP and supporting it to achieve the Mission 44+.
