SRINAGAR, Oct 26: The 73rd meeting of the Board of Directors of Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Transport, Abdul Ghani Kohli here today.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary Transport Kifayat Hussain Razvi, Director General (Budget), Finance Department Mohammad Ishaq, Managing Director JKSRTC G. A. Sofi, Administrative Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Joint Transport Commissioner Er. Narinder Singh and other senior officers of JKSRTC and Motor Vehicle Department.
Mr. Kohli called for taking steps to bring back the assets of Corporation given on lease or rent and develop them on commercial lines to improve the revenue of the Corporation.
The Minister said that the Corporation is the largest transportation body which is providing transportation facilities to the people in every nook and corner of the State, besides connectivity to the Northern States of the country.
The Board decided that all the condemned vehicles of the Corporation should be auctioned and the amount realized on this account should be utilized for purchase of new vehicles. It was also decided that the drivers and conductors will be entitled under the medical claims in case of accidents outside the State.
The Board decided that abolished post of Deputy Financial Advisor will be re-established in the Corporation. It has also enhanced the ceiling of DPC-II for purchase of Spare parts.
The Board also approved up-gradation of workshops of the Corporation.
In the meeting detailed discussion were also held on the Action Taken Reports of decisions taken in 71st and 72nd meeting of the Board of Directors.
