JAMMU, June 12: Asking Department of Health Services and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to gear up to meet challenges in coming Monsoon season, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Executive member, Raman Suri today said that certain preventive measures must be adopted well in advance to deal with situation arising out of incessant rains so that people don’t feel any inconvenience and threat of spread of any epidemic.
Asking Health Department and JMC officials besides R&B Department not to merely stay dependent upon publicity campaigns but also initiate action on ground by clearing nallahs, drains and raising road levels wherever needed well in advance to tackle rains. All low lying areas like Jewel Chowk, Canal road and Ambedkar Chowk must be surveyed and remedial constructions completed for draining out water during rainy season, he added.
He said that awareness campaign about keeping hygiene in the societies and mohallas besides individual premises must also be carried out by field visits and not merely issuing advertisements.
