SRINAGAR, Feb 11: On the eve of World Unani Day today, the people were asked to take full advantage of AYUSH System of Medicine through its age-old proved facilities.
On the eve of the celebrations, which were organized at Auditorium Hall of Dental College Srinagar, Director Indian System of Medicine (ISM), J&K Dr Mohan Singh said that the system is capable of treating ailments like Renal Calculi, Jaundice, masculo-skeletal disorders, skin disorders, male and female urogenital disorders. He also urged ISM doctors to work on core competency areas to attract people towards the latest trends of Regimental Therapies.
The event was organized by the Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy. The day is celebrated in the memory of great Unani Scholar and social reformer late Hakim Ajmal Khan.
The event was attended by various dignitaries including District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Principal Govt Medical College, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Director ISM J&K, retired district officers of ISM J&K and people from all walks of life besides all District Medical Officers, Nodal Officers, Pharmacists, Nursing orderlies and students of different AYUSH Medical Institutes.
On the occasion, Director ISM J&K emphasized on the need to practice Unani Medicine in daily life to take full advantage of benefits like all round fitness, stress relief, improved immunity including others.
He stressed on the need to carry forward the Unani System awareness to every nook and corner of J&K in coming days by involving NGOs, District Administration, School Education and other allied and related departments in J&K.
He also appreciated the services of ISM doctors posted in far-flung and inaccessible areas of J&K for their commendable work in delivering health services at grassroots. He stressed upon ISM doctors to practice their own system of medicine with full devotion and dedication.
On the occasion, Dr Tahir Mufti founder-director of ISM was conferred lifetime achievement award for his overall contribution.
