ASSOCHAM commits to work closely with policy-makers

JAMMU, Feb 11: With keeping inclusiveness and holistic growth agenda in mind, Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) J&K membership met today to discuss the roadmap for working closely with the policy-makers of the helm of affairs in UT and in Centre.
Manik Batra, Chairman J&K Committee led the meeting and took cognizance of the members’ issues and solutions.
Addressing the Industry Leaders and Trade Bodies, he mentioned that ASSOCHAM continues to be the only chamber of Industry that represents member interests at all levels.
Dr MA Alim, CO Chairman, ASSOCHAM J&K (UT) was of the opinion that the issues of industry members and trade organizations should be taken up with the relevant departments both at Centre and UT level. He mentioned that all efforts are to be made to ensure sustenance of existing units in both Industrial and Service sector.
“Amongst various steps which ASSOCHAM would like to suggest the Government is the package for rehabilitation, revival and sustenance of existing service and industrial sector in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and there should be specific policies of GST (both CGST & SGST) Infrastructure development of Industrial estates like Kangrail, Duty rationalization on Important of Walnut wholes vis-à-vis Walnut Kernels, Policy for conversion of Industrial Land into freehold on payment of Token premium to existing industrial units”, Alim added.
In order to serve and reach out to the stakeholders in the Union Territory of J&K and work together with them for the holistic growth and sustainable development of Industry, ASSOCHAM also held interaction with Rahul Sahai, Chairman Transport Nagar Association, who assured affiliation of TNA with ASSOCHAM, J&K (UT) with immediate effect.
Gourav Mahajan, Regional Director North India was also part of the discussion held.
