Take effective measures to overcome water shortage: DC to PHE

JAMMU, Sept 18: District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Sushma Chauhan today reviewed the functioning of PHE Department and asked for fast pacing the ongoing projects.
Detailed discussions were held regarding the schemes like National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP), schemes under NABARD, Water Supply Schemes, State Sector Scheme, state and district capex budget and languishing projects.
The DDC sought a comprehensive report on regularization of water connections, status of major projects, languishing projects and several other ongoing projects and schemes under different heads.
Sushma Chauhan directed the concerned functionaries to conduct regular inspections of ongoing projects and submit the list of completed works.
The DDC asked the PHE functionaries to take effective measures to overcome the shortage in the city areas facing water scarcity. She enquired about the status of water supply and directed to ensure adequate supply to all the areas of the city.
She stressed on the need of augmentation of different Water Supply Schemes (WSS) and instructed the concerned officials to submit the updated DPRs.
The meeting was attended by the senior officers of Hydraulic Circle, Jammu, PHE Mechanical Urban Circle Jammu and PHE Mechanical Rural Jammu.
