Kishtwar, Oct 1: Member Legislative Council Firdous Tak today reviewed the functioning of Rural Development Department in Kishtwar district.
ACD Kishtwar, Akhtar Hussain Qazi and Block Development Officers of all the blocks of the district attended the meeting. The work done by the department and progress on the on going schemes was reviewed.
The meeting was informed that under NREGA Kishtwar district has a total liability of Rs 84 crore out of which around Rs 25 crore has been cleared this year while process for clearing the rest of the liability was underway.
It was informed that the department this year managed to clear all the pending liability of financial year 2013-2014 while part liability of financial year 2014-15 in some of the blocks was also cleared.
The meeting was further informed that work under other schemes including IAY, CRF, BRGF and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has gained monument in the last few months.
Speaking on the occasion, the legislator expressed gratitude to the Minister for Rural Development Abdul Haq Khan, for lying special focus on mountainous districts of Chenab valley where a majority of the population was dependent on the schemes of RDD.
Tak said that the department should focus on the creation of infrastructure and assets in the rural areas for the general benefit of the population . He said that both State and Union Governments are lying special focus on the upliftment of rural infrastructure giving a vast opportunity for the officers to be innovative.
He said that the coalition Government led by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed want to uplift the rural population and for this purpose the department has to play a special role . He said that he will take up the matter regarding the pending liability of the district with Minister so that the payment is released at the earliest.
