JAMMU, Nov 1: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din asked GMC authorities to chalk out effective strategies to provide enhanced and timely services to the people.
The Minister said this while reviewing the functioning of Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu and Associated Hospitals at a meeting here today.
The meeting was attended by Principal Medical College, Dr. Shashi Gupta, Medical Superintendent GMC, Dr. Rabinder Rattan Pal, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr. Wasiq Rasool besides HoDs and senior faculty members.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister directed the GMC authorities to provide quality and hassle free services to the people for which he asked them to augment all material and human resources. He directed the Principal GMC to ensure that all the diagnostic equipments like MRI, USG, X-Ray, CT Scan etc remain functional round the clock for convenience of the patients.
He also laid stress on filling up of vacancies of Professors, Associate/Assistant Professors, Lecturers, Registrars, Surgeons, Assistant Surgeons and para medics immediately so that the patient care at GMC does not suffer.
The Minister underlined the need to start evening OPDs in order to provide additional facility to the ailing people. He also enjoined upon them to strengthen Emergency Ward by making availability of additional staff and other required items which will further add to healthcare for the patients.
Earlier, the Minister conducted on-spot inspection of Emergency and other blocks and took stock of facilities being provided by the hospital administration. He directed Medical Superintendent GMC to deploy adequate number of security staff in the hospital to safeguard doctors and paramedical staff. He appealed the patients and their attendants to cooperate with the hospital administration so that timely treatment would be provided to them.
