JAMMU, May 21: Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today inaugurated newly constructed PG Block at Girls Hostel Government Medical College Jammu, besides two upgraded operation theaters at GMC Hospital and ENT theater at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital (SMGS).
The new block completed at a cost of Rs. 81.35 lakh has been constructed to provide additional rooms to accommodate the PG students.
Principal Government Medical College Dr Ghanshyam, Medical Superintendent GMC and other senior doctors were also present on the occasion.
The Minister interacted with the students who also putforth various other demands. The Minister directed the concerned authorities to provide special electric line to the hostel for the convenience of the students as also to take up the renovation work as demanded by the hostel inmates. He further directed for putting in place adequate security for the girls Hostel.
Earlier, at Government Medical College Jammu, the Minister inaugurated photographic section of Microbiology Department completed at a cost of Rs. 6.50 lakh.
The Minister also inaugurated upgraded surgical operation theater No. 6 & 7. These Operation theaters have been upgraded into modular operation theaters at a cost of Rs. 1.21 crore
At SMGS Hospital, the Minister inaugurated upgraded ENT Operation Theater completed at Rs. 15.20 lakh.
Later, the Minister reviewed the functioning of SMGS and other Associated Hospitals in GMC&H in a meeting of senior doctors.
The Minister inquired about the supply of medicines, functioning of important units, equipments and availability of doctors and paramedic staff .
