SRINAGAR, Oct 29: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) today announced that the examinations of class 8 and 9 will be held offline as was the routine before the pandemic.
According to a notification that was issued here and the copy of which is lying with Excelsior, the T2 examination of Class 8th and 9th shall be conducted at school level for the current session.
“The concerned schools shall set the question papers. For uniform assessment of the students, the sample papers from T2 syllabus shall be prepared by the Educational Research, Survey and Assessment Wing of SCERT and CMDE wings of the concerned DIET as per the assessment scheme in vogue with a 40 per cent choice to the students,” the notification read.
Earlier, there was much clamour around with students demanding mass promotion on the pretext that they were not able to study due to COVID-19 and the non-availability of high-speed internet.
The notification stated that by conducting the pen and paper assessment for these classes “will not only help to check the learning levels of the students during the lockdown but will also avoid the negative effects of mass promotion.”
As per the notification, the examination shall be conducted by the School Education Department through the concerned directorates with strict compliance to the SOPs issued by the government.
“The Principal DIETs shall meet out the expenditure on the result compilation and preparation of achievement cards of the students out of the available MSE Funds on this account as per the prescribed norms in practice,” the notification said.
