Tantrik arrested for cheating, ornaments worth lakhs recovered

SAMBA, Oct 29: Police today arrested a tantrik on the charges of cheating people and recovered gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from his possession.
Police said on 22nd of this month, a written complaint was received at Police Station, Vijaypur from two ladies both residents of Thalori Brahmana, Vijaypur regarding the cheating by a Tantrik who through deceitful means robbed them of their gold ornaments along with cash. They disclosed the name of cheat as Chander Kumar @ Ranvir Takyal S/o Bishamber Dass, R/O Bari Brahmana who claimed to be a Trantik pretending to cure chronic ailments.
Police said the Tantrik took Gold ornaments and cash from them in the name of offering the same to Kuldevta (God) in the Puja. He later went underground and was absconding. Acting over the complaint, a case FIR No. 184/2020 U/S 420 IPC was registered at Police Station, Vijaypur and investigation started. At this, a police party of PS Vijaypur immediately swung into action and conducted multiple raids at suspected  locations and succeeded in apprehending the accused person (Tantrik) from Main Bazar, Bari Brahmana today.
Police said on the disclosure of accused person, the booty and ornaments were recovered from the houses of accused person at Bari Brahmana which included Gold chain Gents 07.5 gm, Gold finger ring 03.1 gm, Gold necklace 15.1 gm, gents ring 2.95 gm, gents ring 2.83 gm, lady ring 3.09 gm, Mangal Sutra 6.770 gm and Tops (Jhumke) 6.170 gm.
During further interrogation accused person disclosed about some more Gold ornaments which were taken by him from different persons after cheating them and were deposited in Manapuram Finance Ltd. Trikuta Nagar, Jammu in the name of Sunny Kumar, S/o Roop Lal of Nai Basti, Jammu for getting loan, which were also recovered and seized. These ornaments included three Gold rings weighing 7.800 gm, 01 Gold ring 2.800 gm, two nos. of Gold ear rings 4.00 gm, police added.
All the recovered ornaments were seized for further action and investigation is under progress, police said.
Police said the total gold ornaments recovered and seized so far included one Gold necklace, 15.1 gms, 08 Nos. of Gold Rings, 22.57 gms, one Gold chain gents, 7.5 gms, one Mangal Sutra 6.770 gms, One Pair of Jhumke, 6.170 gms, 02 Nos. of gold Ear Rings, 4.000 gms
Police said the net total weight of these gold ornaments seized by it so far is 62.11 grams. Investigation of the case is going on and more recoveries are expected, it added.
