Swine flu death toll reaches 3

JAMMU, Oct 6: Another person  has died of Swine flu in Jammu region taking the toll of deadly disease to 3 while 10 more victims were also reported positive today.
According to official sources, 24-year-old Rayat, son of Mohammad Mushtaq, a resident of Jamola, Budhal, District Rajouri has fallen prey to the deadly disease.
The man with swine flu symptoms was admitted in emergency ward of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu and he died on September 29 but as his test report was awaited and came today, it became clear only today that the man was suffering from swine flu.
Sources added that with this death, the toll due to swine flu in Jammu region has reached 3.
“Rayat was the sole bread earner for the family and was working with a private security agency in Mumbai. As per family members, Rayat fell sick in Mumbai and they asked him to reach Jammu and get treated. During treatment, he failed to respond and died at Jammu”, sources stated
“Earlier, two persons—one from Jammu and another from Ramban, had died due to this dreaded disease”, sources added.
The official said till date about 73 suspected patients have been tested for H1N1 virus out of which 10 were found positive and 63 negative. “Out of 10 positive cases, maximum 4 patients belonged  to Jammu district, 2 each from Rajouri and Udhampur and one each from Kathua and Ramban districts”, the sources said, adding out of these 10 swine flu affected people, 3 are children and 7 are adults including 3 males and 4 females.
