JAMMU, July 10: The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today booked SHO Gandoh police station in Doda district, Ghulam Nabi Mir and Munshi of the police station Ghulam Nabi Bhat after they demanded and received Rs 7000 worth bribe amount from a civilian Pritam Chand for registering an FIR against two accused, who had molested his daughter-in-law.
The Munshi was arrested as he received the amount, both for himself and the SHO. However, the SHO hasn’t been arrested immediately but has been named in the FIR registered by the Vigilance Organisation on the complaint of Pritam Chand.
IGP Vigilance Alok Puri told the Excelsior that a trap was laid by the Vigilance Organisation after a complaint was received that the SHO and the Munshi of Gandoh police station had been demanding Rs 7000 from Pritam Chand for registration of FIR on his complaint that his daughter-in-law was molested.
The accused of molestation included Dal Singh and Chandrakant of Gandoh.
The Vigilance registered a case and laid a trap. The Munshi was arrested as soon as he received Rs 7000 corruption from the complainant for himself and the SHO. He was being brought to Jammu for interrogation.
The SVO team, which was supervised by SSP Vigilance Organisation Shakti Pathak, arrested the accused in presence of a Magistrate and independent witnesses as soon as the Munshi accepted the graft amount.
