SRINAGAR: The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today arrested two revenue officials for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe in the uptown, here.
A SVO spokesman said a complaint was lodged with SVO, Kashmir by one Faisal Lateef, alleging that a concern patwari and an orderly were demanding Rs 3500 as bribe to facilitate transfer of land in his favour.
He said a trap was laid and patwari Showkat Ahmad Sofi and an orderly Abdul Rashid Dar of Halqa Natipora in the uptown Srinagar were caught-red handed, while demanding and accepting the bribe money in presence of an independent witness.
The tainted money was recovered from their possession, along with previous amount of Rs 1,500. During the personal search of the patwari and orderly, Rs 45,000 has been recovered. (AGENCIES)
