SVIET student designs eco-friendly car

JAMMU, May 9: Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering & Technology (SVIET) student has conceptualized an innovative eco-friendly electrical car design “SVIET Volta”.
The car has been designed and assembled by Mohd  Javad, an Electrical Engineering  Graduate of 5th semester, whose conceptualized design is now going to be fabricated, manufactured and tested as four-wheel pollution free car with a speed of 80 km per hour for a small family, which will cost approximately  Rs 1.5 lakh after the Nano.
The innovative idea of Md  Javad  was shared by the higher officials of the J&K State,  namely Masood Ahmed Sheikh, Deputy Commissioner of Fisheries, Jammu and Waseem Raja Khan, Assistant Commissioner of  Revenue Jammu, while addressing a  press conference, here today.
For his innovative idea,  they claimed, a well known car company and  a bank have  came forward along with the college officials to support the student and to provide financial support for his project.
The challenge for the students is to design a formula-style eco-friendly car with specific design and safety considerations.  The SVIET-Volta car will be competing with the other cars,  which will be evaluated  on quality of design and performance.
Before this concept, Md Javad  has already won many awards for his innovations in designing robots, electrical gadgets etc.
Ashwani Garg,  Chairman- SVGOI, who was also present in the press conference.  said, SVIET is the first college in the region for the  seed funding agency participation and also act as  venture capitalist in launching student’s innovation.  He further added that  the institute always looks at getting talented students from diverse regions of  globe and always endeavours to inculcate and harness talent to augment innovative ideas, design and engineering skills of the Indian students. The goal of this institution is to always provide the students a world class platform to showcase their talent and potential not only in  terms of design and engineering skills but also assess their capability for team-work,  entrepreneurial skills and management, he added.
