SVC intervention leads to restoration of land to owner after 20 years

JAMMU, Aug 22: In a significant order, the SVC got the possession of about 19 kanals of land restored to its original owner after about 20 years, at Surey Chak (Jammu), which was earlier transferred illegally and fraudulently to some other person allegedly by the then Tehsildar (Agrarian), Jammu.
Earlier, a complaint was lodged before the State Vigilance Commission by one Sardev Singh, regarding alleged attestation of mutation No. 116, vis-a-vis land bearing khasra No 24 and 39, measuring about 19 kanals, at Surey Chak Jammu, in illegal and malafide manner in favour of one Sham Singh, by the then Tehsildar( Agrarian) Jammu.
Taking cognizance of complaint, the Commission sought factual report from Deputy Commissioner, Jammu in the light of allegations levelled. The report submitted by DC Jammu prima facie revealed that the land bearing khasra Nos.24 and 39, which was actually owned by the complainant is presently in illegal possession of one Sham Singh and he is cultivating the land for many years by taking shield of various orders passed by the Revenue authorities in absence of complainant and on the basis of false and frivolous statements made by illegal beneficiary before such authorities. The State Vigilance Commission also took serious note of submissions made by the complainant highlighting omissions and commissions on part of the then Tehsildar (Agrarian), Jammu.
The requisite report submitted by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu exhibited that by timely intervention of the State Vigilance Commission in the matter, the Revenue authorities have demarcated the land and succeeded to restore the possession of about 19 kanals of land to the complainant after about twenty years.
