SRINAGAR, Aug 22: Former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader from Kashmir Prof Saifuddin Soz, has claimed that charges of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely regarding discrimination against Jammu region are false and misleading.
In a press statement issued here today, Prof Soz said, “I take this opportunity to do a rebuttal, based on facts and figures, to the BJP leader Arun Jaitly’s allegations of discrimination against Jammu, made in his speech the other day at Jammu. Mr Jaitly’s charges are nothing but falsehood and otherwise, also, his speech was loaded with sectarian considerations,” he added.
“Mr Jaitly should know through facts and figures that the UPA-1 and UPA-2, in the recent past, fully ensured a ‘ balanced development’ in all the three regions of the State. I wonder, who must know it better than Mr Jaitly who happens to be the Finance Minister of India. In fact, it was a great success for the Congress leadership and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to have ensured fully equity and justice in the economic development of the J&K State,” Prof Soz maintained.
“Arun Jaitly, one of the closest advisors to PM Modi during his visit to Jammu, the other day, has tried to add a dimension to the already difficult situation of strife in Kashmir. It is, perhaps, Mr Jaitely’s response to the National Opposition’s charge that PM Modi has no policy on Kashmir and that he must change the narrative in his dispensation of governance viz a viz Kashmir,” the Cong leader asserted.
He further said that despite a severe situation of death and destruction in Kashmir, PM Modi had nothing to say, while he is known, nationally and internationally, to be speaking on issues, almost all the time.
