Jammu, Oct 21: The residents of Surya Vihar locality in Bhori today said that their area was suffering from lack of sanitation as the sweepers and other municipal officials never bother to visit there.
A delegation of the residents of Lane 2, Surya Vihar, Bhori said, repeated representations to the municipal officials had not yielded any results. They said, they might be forced to come out on roads to lodge their protest since authorities had turned a blind eye towards their problems pending for a long time.
The residents said, the dirt and filth remains littered on the lanes and the drains also get blocked. Getting someone to do the job is too far, no civic official is ever available to listen to their complaints, they said.
They hoped that the issue may come to the notice of the authorities and the lanes may be cleaned regularly. They said, it was an irony that when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was emphasising on cleanliness, the Jammu Municipal authorities, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, were doing quite the opposite.
They disclosed that they were planning to send the pictures of the litter laden streets of various places to the Prime Minister’s office so that some action could be initiated.
